Hi-res looks a lot nicer.

I originally quite liked the idea of being pretty low-res, but this is still only 800x600 and stretched to 1024x768 (or fullscreen)

Oh, and there was a request for light to affect walls - whilst it can't do that properly without normal maps, I can turn off the wall overlay draw and you get an approximation of how it might look (I personally prefer the less realistic but clearer overdrawn walls):
